Jurrien Timber also joined from Ajax for £34m, while Declan Rice became a record-breaking signing for a British fee of £105m, including add-ons.

During the MLS skills challenge for volleys, Havertz became the first player ever to miss the target. However, he quickly bounced back from the disappointment, scoring a late goal in his second appearance for the club during the 5-0 victory over MLS All-Stars on Thursday.
