Victor Osimhen recorded a hat trick at the Super Eagles game against Sao Tome on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. The informed striker became the top scorer in the AFCON qualifiers which made the super eagles finish top of the group ahead of the Africa Cup of Nation in Ivory Coast.
Super eagles had already qualified before the game having 12 point already, but the eagles took the game so personal making sure the crush the visiting team. Super eagles Troost Ekong initially assured Nigerians that they will make sure they crush Sao Tome as a way of welcoming the new minister of sport Senator John Enoh.
30,000 spectators were present to witness the game between the super eagles and sao tome, with the visitors playing more of the defensive game but could not hold back for long before Victor Osimhen stroke a header from Ademola Lookman corner kick to give the home side a lead.
27th minute into the game, Ademola Lookman made it two goals after dribbling pass two defender to strike the ball into the left corner of the visitors goalkeeper. The pass came from a counter attack by super eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi.
Awoniyi and the visitors goalkeeper were a bit busy in the first half after Awoniyi tried so hard to be on the score line, but 7th minutes into the second half, the Nottingham striker got a goal. He scored a flick by Iheanacho and blasted past Silva from close range.

Victor Osimhen finally had a free run for his hat trick after he won a penalty and converted it to make his ninth goal of the qualifier in the 70th minutes. With ten minute left in the game the top Napoli striker confirmed his Ballon d’Or nomination with a hat-trick to become the top scorer in the AFCON qualifiers.
